A Pearl of Wisdom from Shuʿayb b. Ḥarb

Shuʿayb b. Ḥarb said:

لا تجلس إلا مع أحد رجلين رجل جلست إليه يعلمك خيرا فتقبل منه ورجل تعلمه خيرا فيقبل منك والثالث اهرب منه

“Only sit with one of two people: (1) A man who teaches you what is good that you may accept it from him, (2) And a man whom you teach him what is good that he may accept it from you. And regarding anyone else, avoid him.”
