A Pearl of Wisdom from Abū al-Dardāʾ

Abū al-Dardāʾ would say:

اطْلُبُوا الْعِلْمَ فَإِنْ عَجَزْتُمْ فَأَحِبُّوا أَهْلَهُ فَإِنْ لَمْ تُحِبُّوهُمْ فَلَا تُبْغِضُوهُمْ

“Seek knowledge. If you cannot, then love the people of knowledge. And if you do not love them, do not despise them.”

(al-Mukhtār min Kalām al-Akhyār, 72)
