A Pearl of Wisdom from ʿAwn b. ʿAbd Allāh al-Hudhalī

ʿAwn b. ʿAbd Allāh said:

إن الله تعالى ليكره عبده على البلاء كما يكره أهل المريض مريضهم على الدواء ويقولون اشرب هذا فإن لك في عاقبته خيرا

“Verily, Allāh the Exalted compels His slave upon affliction like how the family of one who is sick compels their sick relative upon medicine, saying: ‘Take this medicine. Verily, you will find the outcome to be good.’”
