A Pearl of Wisdom from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Nāṣir al-Saʿdī

ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. Nāṣir al-Saʿdī commentated on the verse:

إِنَّ رَبِّي غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ

“Verily, my Lord is the All-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful.”

Saʿdī said: “Meaning, He is All-Forgiving to one who sins and transgresses when he turns to Him and repents. And He is All-Merciful as He accepts his repentance and grants him the success to perform righteous deeds.”
