A Pearl of Wisdom from ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAwn

ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAwn said:

لَنْ يُصِيبَ الْعَبْدُ حَقِيقَةَ الرِّضَا حَتَّى يَكُونَ رِضَاهُ عِنْدَ الْفَقْرِ كَرِضَاهُ عِنْدَ الْغِنَى

“The worshiper has not attained the reality of contentment until his contentment when he is destitute is like his contentment when he is prosperous.”
