A Pearl of Wisdom from Imām Shāfiʿī

When Imām Shāfiʿī (Allāh have mercy on him) reached the age of forty he began carrying a walking stick. Someone asked him about this to which he replied:

لأذكر أني مسافر

“It is to remind me that I am a traveler.”

(Sabīl al-Iddkār 39-40)
