A Pearl of Wisdom from Imām Mālik

Imām Mālik (Allāh have mercy on him) would say:

أدركنا الناس وهم يتفقهون إلى الأربعين، فإذا بلغوا أربعين سنة، اشتغلوا بالعمل بما علموا ولم يبق لهم فراغ إلى الالتفات لشيء من الدنيا

“I found the people studying jurisprudence until their forties. When they reached forty, they occupied themselves with practicing on what they learnt – they no longer had the time for worldly things.”

(Sabīl al-Iddkār 39)
