A Pearl of Wisdom from Imām Abū Ḥanīfah

Imām Abū Ḥanīfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

مَنْ طَلَبَ الرِّيَاسَةَ بِالْعِلْمِ قَبْلَ أَوَانِهِ لَمْ يَزَلْ فِي ذُلٍّ مَا بَقِيَ

“Whoever seeks to gain a position of leadership by means of sacred knowledge before he is qualified to do so will be in a state of disgrace as long as he remains.”
