A Pearl of Wisdom from ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAwn

ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAwn said:

لو أن رجلا انقطع إلى هؤلاء الملوك في الدنيا لانتفع فكيف بمن انقطع إلى من له السماوات والأرض وما بينهما وما تحت الثرى

“If a man gives his full attention to the kings and rulers of this world and benefits, so how about one who gives his full attention to He who is sovereign over the heavens, the earth, what is between them, and what is in the depths of the earth?”
