A Pearl of Wisdom from Ḍirār b. Murrah

Ḍirār b. Murrah mentioned that the Devil says:

إذا استمكنت من ابن آدم ثلاثا أصبت حاجتي إذا نسي ذنوبه واستكثر عمله وأعجب برأيه

“When I gain power over a human in three ways, then I have gotten what I want from him. (1) When he forgets his sins, (2) when he regards his deeds to be great, and (3) when he is arrogant regarding his opinion.”
