A Pearl of Wisdom from ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ

ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ said:

لأن أدمع دمعة من خشية الله تعالى أحب إلي من أن أتصدق بألف دينار

“For me to shed a single tear out of fear for Allāh is more beloved to me that giving a thousand dīnārs in charity.”
