A Pearl of Wisdom

رأى رجل فقيرا مريضا كفيفا مقعدا وهو يردد الحمد لله الذي فضلني على كثير من عباده فقال يرحمك الله وبماذا فضلك؟ قال: رزقني لسانا ذاكرا وقلبا شاكرا وجسدا على البلاء صابرا

Once, a man saw a poor, sick blind-man who was crippled and repeatedly saying: “All praise is to Allāh who has preferred me over much of His creation.” The man said: “With what did He prefer you.” The blind-man said: “He gave me a tongue that remembers Him, a heart that is thankful to Him, and a body that is patient with afflictions.”
