A Pearl of Wisdom from Muḥammad b. Manṣūr al-Ṭūsī
Muḥammad b. Manṣūr al-Ṭūsī said:
سِتُّ خِصَالٍ يُعْرَفُ بِهَا الْجَاهِلُ الْغَضَبُ فِي غَيْرِ شَيْءٍ وَالْكَلَامُ فِي غَيْرِ نَفْعٍ وَالْعِظَةُ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْضِعِهَا وَإِفْشَاءُ السِّرِّ وَالثِّقَةُ بِكُلِّ أَحَدٍ وَلَا يَعْرِفُ صَدِيقَهُ مِنْ عَدُوِّهِ
“There are six qualities that show one is an ignoramus. They are: (1) becoming angry for no reason, (2) talking without purpose, (3) misconstruing moral lessons, (4) disclosing secrets, (5) trusting everyone, and (6) being unable to distinguish friend from foe.”
