WHAT IS THE TAKHASSUS PROGRAM?
After completing their traditional ʿālimiyyah program, many scholars aspire to continue learning the Islamic Sciences and concentrating in a particular field. Aimed at aspiring scholars, the thoroughly engaging takhaṣṣuṣ program is focused on providing a high-quality educational atmosphere in which erudite ʿulamāʾ are trained.
DarusSalam Seminary’s Takhaṣṣuṣ fī al-Ḥadīth Program is a two-year, postgraduate program that will, in shāʾa Allāh, provide the student with a firm grasp of ḥadīth, ʿulūm al-ḥadīth, and its ancillary sciences, such as muṣṭalaḥ, ʿilm al-rijāl, ʿilal, takhrīj, and dirāsat al-asānīd. The program provides a rigorous curriculum of hadith studies and equips students with advanced research skills in hadith sciences. Students will be exposed to widespread authorship within the field, trained in navigating differing approaches in hadith studies from within the Muslim tradition, and acquainted with the challenges and contentions raised against hadith from both Muslim and non-Muslim perspectives. Moreover, students will be trained in understanding their role as hadith specialists in today’s increasingly complex and evolving world. The program culminates in a thorough study of Western criticism levied against the hadith tradition, inspiring within them confidence in our tradition and equipping them to be advocates and defenders of the Sunna in modern times.

SOUND TRADITION
The institute’s instructors are connected back to Islām’s greatest scholars and have acquired traditional teaching licenses (ar. ijāzāt) in a vast array of subjects. They dedicated many years of their lives pursuing studies in the Arabic language and the sacred sciences locally, as well as abroad at eminent Dār al-ʿUlūms based on the South Asian pedagogical model and at renowned centers of learning in the Middle East. With their varying backgrounds, what each teacher contributes to the learning environment makes this program especially unique. This combination of talent cumulates, exposing the pursuant learner to studies that equal or surpass overseas opportunities.
