The migration of Rasulullah (S) and his companions from Makkah to Madinah not only signified the beginning of our Islamic calendar, but a turning point in Islamic history. It marked the transition of the Muslims from a group of believers to an established nation, from a position of weakness to one of power, and it transformed Islam from an act of worship to a comprehensive way of life, encompassing everything from politics to economics to social interactions. Even the Revelation which descended after the migration was markedly different from that which descended before.
It was those who migrated with Rasulullah (S) about whom Allah (SWT) said: “Those who believe, and emigrate and strive in Allah’s cause, with their goods and their persons, have the highest rank in the sight of Allah: they are indeed the successful people. Their Lord does give them glad tidings of a Mercy from Himself, of His good pleasure, and of Gardens where enduring pleasure will be theirs. They will dwell therein forever. Verily in Allah’s presence is a reward, the greatest (of all).” (Al-Tawbah 9: 20-22).
The Migration was undoubtedly a monumental event which changed not only the course of Islamic history, but had a lasting effect on the Arab Peninsula and ultimately the entire world. InshaAllah, in this seminar, Mawlana Ahteram ul Haque will cover the lessons which can be extracted from the Hijrah.
The program will be held Friday, October 14th promptly after ‘Isha (8:30pm). Please spread the word!
